Air Filter Paper

Air filter paper is used in air filter elements, which can be used in large areas, such as filters for light and heavy duty vehicles.

Paper is a highly porous material that contains up to 70% air. Paper used for air filtration is used in many applications such as automotive air filters, vacuum cleaner air bags, home heating furnace filters, etc. Most paper is porous enough to allow air to flow, but the openings are small enough to retain dust/dirt particles. Paper used for air filtration is porous and has controlled porosity depending on the application. Three important characteristics of filter paper are.


What is the maximum particle size it will allow to pass? (Determine filtration efficiency or capacity)

How fast will it allow air to pass through? (Determine the air flow through the filter)

How much resistance will it provide to the passage of air? (air pressure/vacuum required to force or draw air in)

The two most important factors controlling paper porosity are fiber length and the amount of grinding/pulping. The longer the fibers and/or the less refining/pulping, the more porous the paper will be. Quality air filter papers contain a rag component. Rag fibers are long and provide high porosity and good strength.


Paper air filters keep harmful particles out of your system to keep the air that passes through safe to breathe. Unfiltered air systems present a host of problems that can lead to breathing problems. Complications can occur in your vehicle from contaminants and allergens that try to enter your system and need to be filtered. A paper air filter can prevent incoming airborne problems while improving overall vehicle air quality.

Which paper is used in air filter?

Most of Filter papers is made of cotton fibers. According to different applications to produce. Because of its material is a fiber articles, so its surface has numerous small holes for the liquid particles through, and the volume of the larger solid particles can not pass.


What materials are used in automotive air filters?

Automotive air filters come in different shapes: panel, round or cylindrical. They are made of pleated material for filtering air and can be made of cotton, synthetic paper or foam.


Is paper a good air filter?

Paper: Affordable and reliable

Since your filter should be replaced every 12,000 to 30,000 miles, it should be as affordable as possible. Woven wood pulp provides good airflow while reducing the amount of dust and debris that can enter your engine and clog your work.


Do you need to oil your engine air filter?

Please remember to apply oil liberally on the filter. The purpose of the oil is to prevent dirt and debris from passing through. Not using enough oil is counterproductive to the work of the filter. Have you use a specific purpose cleaner and oil for your air filter.


If I don't have air filter oil, what can I use?

Stick chain oil is a great alternative to air filter oil (which is basically a viscous oil with dye in it).


Are reusable automotive air filters any good?

Unfortunately, independent testing has found that these filters offer little to no performance benefits. Some of these reusable filters even allow more dirt to enter the engine. When dirt gets into your engine, it gets into your engine oil and can damage your engine.
